From cheap princess cut engagement ring. When most people think about synthetic Gems, the first thing that comes to mind is a misconception that these are “cheap imitations” compared to the real, natural gems that they are patterned after. However, what most people don’t know is that there are many types of man-made or modified natural gems whose quality and appearance can easily rival those of “natural” Gemstones while costing much less than their original counterparts.

Defining Natural and Synthetic Stones

A lot of different terms are used in the Gemstone industry today, and you have to know what the terms mean to keep yourself from getting ripped off. A natural Gemstone is, by definition, exactly that – a natural stone mined from a quarry, and the only human intervention regarding it’s appearance is to cut and polish it, nothing more. Natural Gemstones of high quality and beauty are the rarest and most expensive types of Gemstones.

Treated Gemstones, on the other hand, are natural gems which, despite cutting and polishing, would have normally fallen below the standards of high quality natural gems. These gems are treated with chemicals and several procedures to enhance their appearance to match higher quality Gemstones. Lastly, there are synthetic Diamonds.

These are man made gems created completely inside a factory or laboratory. Synthetic stones are, in chemical composition, exactly like their natural Diamond counterparts. As a matter of act, they are TOO perfect in appearance, because their physical parameters and composition are made expressly for Jewellery purposes.

Different Types of Synthetic Stones

There are two main types of synthetic stones based on how they were created. The first is factory-produced synthetic stones. Basically, these are stones created using the same elements as a natural stone, and fused together under artificial conditions (like superheating and pressure) to make a Gemstone in much less time than it would take for one to develop naturally.

These can be churned out at a rapid rate and in very large volumes. The second type is lab-grown Diamonds. These are a half-way compromise between mass-produced synthetic stones and natural ones. The same elements as natural Gems are again used to create a synthetic one, BUT instead of speed-fusing them, the elements are placed in a lab whose conditions approach that of the natural processes which create natural Diamonds.

While the process itself is sped up to make a gem in much less time than nature would, it takes more time to “grow” a gem in a lab than it would under a factory processor. However, lab grown gems are able to approach the qualities of a natural gem more than a factory-made synthetic one.

The Qualities of Synthetic Stones versus Natural

Physically, there are several differences between a synthetic stone and a natural one. Perhaps the most ironic difference is that synthetic gemstones are TOO perfect. Created expressly for Jewelry purposes, their basic shapes are made to fit the type of Jewelry they’re meant to be set in. Even their crystal structure is mathematically precise with no deviations whereas a natural Gem will often have a flaw or two in it’s matrice (and if it doesn’t, a perfectly unflawed natural gem’s price will be HUGE).

The chemical composition of the gem is likewise pure for synthetic Gems, whereas natural Gemstones may often have trace elements mixed into it. These small imperfections are how most jewelers tell the difference between a natural and synthetic stone. Price wise, synthetic gems can offer a person much more beauty and value for their money; natural Gemstones of high quality are very rare and thus expensive, whereas the mass produced synthetics are physically the same but cheaper by anything from half to a quarter of the price.

For long term investment, however, natural Gemstones of high quality are a better idea because of their rarity; their value appreciates over time, whereas the price for a synthetic remains constant. The price may even drop over time, especially for factory-made synthetic Gems; natural stones and lab grown stones have no physical degradation over time, but factory-made stones, being made in a hurry, are not quite as durable as the real thing. For this reason, lab-grown synthetic Gemstones are becoming more and more popular over quick factory machine-made synthetics.

From unique solitaire engagement rings. Your Jewelry cost a lot, so it should be well-taken care of to extend its life and beauty. Here are some guidelines to take care of your Gemstone Jewelry.

Clean it!

Cleaning your Gemstone Jewellery doesn’t require any special accessories or appliances. A bowl of water with some drops of dish detergent will do the trick. Arm yourself with a soft toothbrush and brush away especially behind the stone. Don’t scrub too hard as it may scratch the stone. Scrub gently and rinse after it is done. Dry it with a soft cloth with soft pats.

A home ultrasonic cleaner can also be used, but only for those who know how to use it and what gem to use it with. It could be used with ruby, sapphire, and amethyst, among others; however, it could damage Gems such as emerald, turquoise, and pearl. So use this appliance with extreme caution.

Take note that organic gems should only be wiped with a soft cloth when cleaning them. Pearls, corals, and ambers are examples of organic Diamonds. These Gemstones are soft and porous. Long-term exposure to chemicals such as hairspray, cosmetics, and perfume may damage these organic Gemstones, especially pearls.

Be very careful with it

Taking care of your Diamond Jewelry will make it look brand-new for many years. Oftentimes, common sense should be used in taking care of your Diamond Jewelry. Take your Jewelry off when doing strenuous activities that may cause damage to your Diamond. Diamonds are still susceptible to breakage when they collide with something hard or heavy. Gems, rubies, or sapphires may be the toughest but they can break easily when given a solid blow.

Store your Gem Jewelry separately to avoid scratches from by harder gems. If possible, get each piece a velvet box to be stored in. Don’t get lazy in storing your Diamonds as they are very valuable.

Put your Jewellery on last when dressing. This is to avoid getting the Gem tangled with your clothes. But remove the Gemstone Jewelry first at the end of the day. Its also a big no-no to wear your Jewellery when going swimming. The chlorine in the water might damage your Jewellery.

Its essential to take care of your Gemstone Jewellery so it to last a long time. The value of these pieces of Diamond Jewellery are really high and may get higher as time goes by. And who knows, after some decades, your Jewelry may be a good gift for your granddaughters! So take good care of your Diamond Jewelry.

Jade, a generic term for nephrite and jadeite Gems is regarded as a fascinating Gemstone for collectors and Jewelry enthusiasts. Asian countries regard jade as a valuable antique. Jade is said to have symbolic beauty and energy since it balances creativity and mental agility in Gemstone therapy. Many people want jade for various reasons because of its uniqueness as well as its impressive history where even the Aztecs and ancient Egyptians regard jade as a symbolic item. Here are some guidelines in spotting a good jade.

Select the people you buy jade from

Since jade is a really rare and wanted Gemstone, many people have created ways of making fakes or imitation jades. Finding a good genuine jade might cost a lot and consume a lot of time. In buying jade Gems, only trust reputable sellers or dealers and collectors. Never buy from shady stores in the area or resorting to online stores which can be doubted most of the time. Having a critical eye to look for a good jade Diamond will be a necessary weapon in hunting for these beauties.

Determining the value of the jade

Generally, a jade Gemstones value depends on the intensity of the color, transparency, clarity, and its texture. Connoisseurs differentiate the shades of green in seven main qualities, from light shades of apple green to the darker shades of green.

Different countries regard a specific color more valuable among jade Gemstones based from their culture. USA and Europe regard spinach green and apple green colors of jade the most valuable. Meanwhile, far eastern countries prefer jade in colors of sheer white or yellow with a trace of pink. Generally, the hint of lavender or fine violet in jade is the most popular color. However the rarest of jade Diamonds in color are the imperial green which has extraordinary depth. This color of jade Gemstone fetches the highest price.

It all depends on the collector or buyer

For those collectors who don’t just fancy buying jade Diamonds, advice on what to buy will be futile. Everyone has their own tastes and preference on what color or shape to buy. However for those enthusiasts who enjoy the beauty of jade, they have a wide variety of designs to choose from, especially since modern chic designs have sprouted.

Nevertheless, anyone will enjoy a jade Diamond, no matter its color, shape, or texture, since it is a beauty no one can deny.

Over the years the design and function of jewelry has evolved from its simplest metal forms to Crystal Jewellery and even to synthetic jewelries of the modern times, different ages, different uses and meaning but one thing remains true. Throughout the ages jewellery has formed a bond with human civilization as part of their culture and tradition and no matter what the meaning or the use, it will remain part of our societies for eons to come.

The history of Jewelry dates back to the time of the pharaohs in ancient Egypt. But it could have been older than that. Some experts theorize that when man form the very first communal settlement, adornments may have been part of their culture thus making Jewelry far older than anyone can imagine. As for the time of the Egyptians, part of their culture was to adorn their loved ones with gold and other jewelries made by hand.

It is even true that they brought their Jewellery with them to the death as some archaeologists have unearthed chambers in the pyramids that were filled with the riches of the departed. Some say that these adornments were cursed with black magic and whomsoever touched them were cursed to their last days.

Cursed or not one thing remains true for these people; part of their rich heritage was dedicated to the improvement and development of the jewelries that they bestowed upon their kin. These improvements were very much seen in the crafting of the embellishments and the designs.

The development of design did not stop; instead it was carried on through out the ages. During the time of the empires and the kingdoms, Jewelry making was considered one of the noblest professions, it was a very important task that only duly deputized jewelers of the royalty were allowed to craft jewels and only nobility were given the privilege to try it out.

In modern times Jewelry making is still a very lucrative profession and only a handful of individuals have made their mark in the Jewelry business. Part of the human need to seek out different things and better ideas is improving what is already there. One of the most notable improvements that man has promulgated is making use of natural Real Crystalline rocks and synthetic Real Crystals as Jewelry pieces or adornments in Jewellery sets.

Nowadays, it is not uncommon to see Crystalline rocks and synthetic Crystal Jewelry sold in almost every corner of the world. Some companies have even specialized in selling and crafting Crystal Jewellery. The Swarovski Real Crystal Jewelry pieces are one of the most top selling Genuine Crystal Jewellery in the market. The company has set new boundaries in crafting and designing raw Crystals in to the eye candy that is Crystal Jewelry.

But they are not the only ones that have made their mark in the Genuine Crystal Jewelry business, some Asian countries, one particularly being China boasts about the fine natural Crystal Jewelry that they produce. Regardless though of where it is from Crystal Jewelry has broken grounds in the mainstream accessory business.

From cheaper emerald cut rings. No matter how beautiful a person or object is time can only tell how long it will stay the same. This is a proven fact. The only thing that you can do to maintain health and vigor is to live a disciplined and junk-free life. Do away with all the stress and learn to handle situations in a more calm and subtle way. These principles hold true for your precious gems, accessories, ornaments, and of course you Crystal Jewelry. It is solely up to you to safeguard and ensure that the quality of your Crystal jewelries is not compromised. Here are some of the things you can do.

You really don’t have to give a fuss about caring for your Genuine Crystal Jewelry. Nevertheless it is your responsibility if you want them to continue making you look better and better each time you wear them. Face it. Your Crystals are not immortals. Every time you use them there is a chance that their features can be altered just like when you start to age.

As your daily utilization increases, the Crystals in your Jewellery tend to lose a certain degree of what is called its luster. This is the property of the Crystal that gives it a unique glow and brilliance. This is what makes it stand among other accessories. At present Swarovski is the leading producer of the best and high quality Crystals across the globe. It is incomparable when market value is considered.

If you start to notice that after a series of usage your Crystal begins to show signs of dullness it’s not yet time to take it out with the other trash in the house. It is way too precious. You must begin by employing two trustee allies to help you salvage the quality of your Crystal Jewelry. Get to know two things commonly used to maintain a high standard of hygiene. These are your very accessible baby wipes and your common household friend rubbing alcohol.

Since most of the Real Crystal Jewelry in the market are being nabbed by women let’s take a look at how simple body care procedures can ruin the quality of precious Swarovski Crystals. Women tend to put a lot of items on their body to keep its moisture and glow intact. There are oil and lotions, hair sprays and gels, and who would forget those time consuming make-ups. But be careful these are the ones that lead your Genuine Crystal Jewelry to lose their touch in making you look astonishing.

Nevertheless you can wipe your worries away by utilizing the ever reliable baby wipe. It’s really easy and manageable. You ladies can effortlessly engage in the caring of your precious Jewellery by holding a piece of baby wipe using your fingers and thumbs. You can then let the Crystals slip along the wipe until they are as good as new. Make sure you do this trick to all of your Genuine Crystals. Afterwards the deal is closed by utilizing a plain tissue or cotton to dry your Crystal Jewellery off.

Another option you can consider in maintaining the integrity of your Crystal Jewelry is by using a solution. Now this solution is produced by mixing tap water with dish soap and rubbing alcohol. It offers a reliable way of cleaning off the effects of lotions, oils, and hair sprays on your beloved Genuine Crystals. You are assured that they are squeaky and sparkling clean.

Make sure to safeguard your Real Crystal Jewellery and they will do the same for your reputation and appearance.

To shop visit cushion cut diamond solitaire engagement rings and antique princess engagement rings.

There is something special about crystal, the way it shines so brilliantly withits subtle rainbow colors

From radiant diamond solitaire rings. Real Crystal Jewelry has come a long way since the time when Daniel Swarovski I introduced his innovative cutting machine. It has made its way into the comforts of homes and offices giving each room and area a sparkling ambiance that makes the occupant longing for more. It has been part of a series of significant happenings and events in the lives of so many people.

It has walked the aisle so many times ravishing the crowd with its beauty that blends well with that of the bride. It surely has and continues to leave the market in shear awe. But surely the Jewelry cannot stand alone. Without the elegance of the Crystal your precious jewellery is just an ordinary accessory. So with this in mind let’s turn on the old school music and take a peak of how Real Crystals made their way in the lives of so many people.

It was around the second half of the 17th century when a man named George Ravenscroft who was a glass maker by profession paved the way for the birth of pure lead Genuine Crystals. Ravenscroft was looking for means to produce glassware that can boast of an improved clarity and luster. He succeeded upon creating a molten mixture that composed of lead oxide. In this manner he was able to alter the properties of glass drastically.

Certain changes included higher glass clarity and the refractive index of the glass came blowing off the charts. He also noted that there was a remarkable increase in the weight of the glass and it became more malleable that an opportunity to mold it easier without breaking it presented itself. This brought about an instant bloom in the fame of Ravencroft’s glass. It easily spread in the markets of Europe and as far as that of America.

Moving further back into ancient times, the purpose of Crystals was not only as accessories or jewelries. Crystals were associated with mystic powers and thus with the properties of healing all sorts of ailments and disorders. This is actually where the belief of Real Crystals being associated with meditation and inner balance. Crystals were placed in special areas of the house and were readily worn during times of special events such as quests and battles.

Historians and archaeologists have concluded that Crystals were not only used for adornment purposes but more so inclined with that of the spiritual realm. A prehistoric monument proves how Crystals were used by early civilization in order to communicate with nature and the after life. This monument is a solar temple known to history as the New grange. This is actually a sacred passage in the Boyne Valley found in Ireland.

This grave was built way earlier than the pyramids. Its orientation was done so as to facilitate sun streams to enter through the long tunnel entrance which is estimated to be about seventy feet. One noticeable feature that presented Real Crystals was the white quartz that covered the roof. This was said to be made in honor of the White Goddess.

Other historical fact showcased Crystals as common mediums utilized in healing and spiritual ceremonies that were done by the early settlers in South America. In the Far East, quartz Real Crystal balls were usually associated with the essence of a powerful mythological creature which is the dragon. Back in ancient India chakras or energy center said to be located in various areas around the body is also tagged with Genuine Crystals. This is where meditation methods of placing Genuine Crystals across the body trace its root.

No matter how far Genuine Crystal Jewelry has reached in the modern day its old school background will surely be carved along with it as it continuously make longer and better strides.

From cheap diamond princess cut engagement rings. Any Real Crystal Jewelry would be synonymous to the word “forever” because that piece of treasure is designed to last for an eternity. Unless stolen or lost, Genuine Crystal Jewellery are meant to stand the test of time and generations.

Knowing this for a fact, many people choose this as a symbol of their affection and eternal love for their partner or for themselves. For men, a piece or two of genuine crystal jewellery is enough. But when it comes to women, it is altogether a different story.

Finding The best

In a Jewelry store, several pieces of crystal jewelry may look alike. But, these can be very different since no two pieces could have equal values. The four qualities, namely color, clarity, cut and carat weight determines the real value of the gem you are looking for. These standards are also applicable to most gemstones.

If you are one of those who are planning to buy any genuine crystal jewelry for yourself or for a loved one, the following should be your major considerations:

1.) CLARITY. It is the first thing to look for when buying real crystal jewelry. The absence or presence of tiny natural flaws or blemishes known as inclusions determines this. These are not visible to the naked eye but can affect the diamond in one way or another. The fewer and smaller the inclusions, the higher the price. Perfect clarity means no inclusions are distinguished when the Genuine Crystal Jewellery is examined. Being knowledgeable in the clarity characteristics of a diamond is very essential specially for those interested in purchasing it.

2.) COLOR. Crystal Jewellery can cover the entire spectrum of colors but nothing beats the colorless diamond. The difference in color grade is almost unrecognizable in the naked eye but it is when it comes to the value. Colorless Genuine Crystal Jewelry is the most precious compared to off-white ones. The exceptions to the rule are “fancy” diamonds-in well-highlighted colors of pink, blue, red, green, and yellow. These are particularly rare and highly treasured.

3.) CUT. Cut is the most crucial variable affecting the Real Crystal Jewelry because it has great influence on its fire and brilliance but not all jewelers know what “cut” means. Cut can be use to mean the inherent shape like round (modern brilliant cut, eight cuts, old cut, Swiss cut, rose cut, and chipping) marquise, oval, pear, heart and emerald or octagon. Some also prefers square, oblong, triangle, princess and radiant cuts. It can also mean the proportion or the polishing of the Crystal Jewellery.

4.) CARAT WEIGHT. Although carat is a unit of weight, not size, the carat weight of a Genuine Crystal Jewelry has come to refer to particular sizes. If properly cut, diamonds of the same weight should be about the same size. These sizes do not apply to other gems because their specific gravities differ from a diamond. Bigger is not necessarily better. Although large Crystal Jewelry flaunt the stone’s delicate color and exquisite cut, a diamond of lesser size may have higher clarity and color or a more precise cut and be of equal value.

It is important very important not to confuse weight with size. Always remember that there is no two Crystal Jewellery with exactly the same size because these might weight very differently.

Peridot is the modern birthstone for August, and as well as being used in August birthstone jewelry is the gem selected to mark the 16th wedding anniversary. This particular gemstone is a variety of olivine which is a combination of 2 minerals, foylite and forsterite. It is still quite uncertain where the word peridot comes from, whether it is from the French word peritot, which means unclear or the word for gem in Arabic, faridat. Whichever is true the gem was named peridot, by the French sometime in the 18th century. Before this time the Peridot precious stone was just called topaz.

For more than 4000 years peridot has been mined as a gemstone and is even discussed in the Bible where it was was called by the Hewbrews, pitdah. Peridot is the state gem of Egypt and was used by the Egyptians from as early as fifteen hundred B.C. It was called the “sun gem” because miners from long ago thought that it shone with a light that made the crystal easier to locate. This exquisite precious stone is becoming wildly popular perhaps because of the legend identifying it as Cleopatra’s favorite jewel.

Description of the Peridot Gemstone

Throughout time and years this valuable August precious stone has often been mistaken for other gemstones. The peridot birthstone can be described as a light sea green with a hint of yellow. The gems most often confused with the peridot are garnets, apatite, zircon and emeralds, although these hardly ever possess the pretty tint of yellow that looks so attractive with the peridot’s green color.

The Quality of Peridot Gemstones

Peridots having less than 15% iron and trace elements nickel and chromium are considered to be the best quality. Peridot comes from Pakistan, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, Ethiopia, Austalia and the USA. Originally the best quality peridot came from Egypt but some remarkable specimens have been discovered in Pakistan that some think are even finer. The gems that come from Arizona are of lesser quality but are more plentiful, so making them more affordable for many people. Around 85 – 95% of all world production of peridot is from Arizona. Gems from Egypt and Pakistan are better quality and rarer and thus are quite expensive.

Magical Powers of the Peridot

This gorgeous August birthstone symbolizes success and it’s also considered a shield for for all the body as it keeps away negativity. It is also associated with reduction of stress and relaxation. The Ancient Egyptians used this gem to clean and heal the heart. Some illnesses such as fever and asthma were thought to be cured by putting crushed peridot beneath the tongue. There is also a belief that it’s powers are amplified by setting it in gold.

August Birthstone Jewelry

Peridot is a delightful jewel in its own right and is becoming increasingly popular. Peridot gems can be fun collectors items and they make lovely August birthstone jewelry gifts.

Alexandrite’s Color Changing Properties

This June birthstone is highly revered because of it’s capacity to drastically switch colors. Compared to other precious stone such as sapphires and diamond, alexandrite is a relatively new gemstone on the market, having only been found about 150 years ago. The Alexandrite precious stone was first found in the Ural Mountains of Russia around 1830 and was named after Czar Alexander II, the Emperor of Russian. This gem was dubbed with the name “magic gem” because of it’s lovely show of colors.

Description of the June Birthstone Alexandrite

The color of this gem varies with the the wavelength of light and the chemical bonds in the gem. In natural light alexandrite exhibits a moss like bluish green but when seen under the light from a candle or lamp this color changes to a beautiful raspberry shade. This transformation is called the alexandrite effect. It’s a result of the chemical blending of chrysoberyl, which is a rare oxide mineral, and chromium. the lovely color of Alexandrite come from chromium.
The Quality of Alexandrite Gems

It’s crucial to take into account the strength of the color change when evaluating an alexandrite. The gemstone is thought to be rarer and more valuable if the color change is more complete and intense. A further aspect to consider is the cutting quality and clarity of the gem. Alexandrites found in Russia are supposed to be of superior quality and color, therefore making them more costly. Most of the alexandrites on sale are below 1 carat because bigger sizes are too expensive by most people.

Looking after Your Alexandrite Jewels

it is best to keep alexandrites away from extreme heat because this can affect their ability to change color. When cleaning these gemstones soapy warm water may be used as well as alcohol or a specially made jewelry cleaning solution. If steam and ultrasonic cleaning are required suitably trained jewelers ought to be used.

Sources of Alexandrite

The initial source of alexandrite in the Ural Mountains of Russia has now virtually been mined out, though the mines are still working and turn out a few carats each year. These days there are 2 chief sources of alexandrite gemstones, Brazil and Sri Lanka (Ceylon). In the 1990’s Alexandrite gems were also discovered in countries such as Burma, India, Zimbabwe and Madagascar. Regrettably, none of these new sources has produced as vibrant and rich colors as the gemstones produced in Russia. Stones from these sources have their own individuality: such as the greyish undertones of stones from Sri Lanka and yellow tones in gems from Brazil.
In Conclusion

In spite of the comparatively short history of this lovely stone it has already been credited with a range of mystical and magical properties. It is a rare and striking gem and would make a wonderful June birthstone jewelry gift for a loved one who has a June birthday.
